Christi Deaton is Emerita Professor of Nursing at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, and Cambridge University Hospitals. Although retired, she remains active in research and professional activities. Current research focuses on heart failure, especially management of patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction across health services. She has led programmes to develop research capacity and capability among nurses, midwives and AHPs regionally and nationally, and remains a mentor to aspiring researchers. Christi has contributed to various ESC committees, guidelines, position papers and scientific statements and is an active member of EAPC, ACNAP (past Chair of CCNAP) and HFA, and is a fellow of ESC, AHA and American Academy of Nurses. She was an ex-officio member of the ESC Board 2010-12, programme coordinator for Topic 6 in the Congress Planning Committee 2012-16, and a member of the ESC Nominating Committee 2016-18.
