Dr. Platz’ research has focused on the role of lung ultrasound and echocardiography in patients with or at risk for heart failure. She has served as principal investigator of several multidisciplinary investigations which resulted in publications in high-impact cardiovascular journals. Her work has been supported by the NIH, Harvard University and the American Heart Association. She was a visiting physician-scientist at the Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research (2020-2021), where she designed and co-led early phase clinical trials. At Brigham and Women’s Hospital she founded and directs the Ultrasound Research Core Laboratory (ULTRA), an academically-oriented core imaging laboratory. Dr. Platz is both an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Harvard Medical School. She serves on the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Heart Failure and as Guest Editor for the EHJ - Acute Cardiovascular Care.
