Elmir Omerovic is a senior consultant cardiologist and Professor of Cardiology at Göteborgs University. Since 2007 he has been head of the Heart Group at The Wallenberg Laboratory for Cardiovascular research at Sahlgrenska Academy, Gothenburg, Sweden. Professor Omerovic is a board-certified cardiologist with training at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He has a broad clinical and scientific interest in cardiovascular medicine, from prevention (hypertension, lipid disorders, diabetes) to coronary artery disease (angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, acute post-infarction heart failure) to chronic heart failure. His particular research interest is taktosubo syndrome and observational studies based on national registries of cardiovascular diseases in Sweden (SWEDEHEART/SCAAR). He is a trained interventional cardiologist who performs diagnostic coronary angiographies and percutaneous coronary procedures.
