Gian Paolo Ussia graduated and specialized in Cardiology at the University of Bologna, Italy He served as Pediatric Cardiologist at Giannina Gaslini Children Institute, Genoa. From 2002 Director of Structural Interventional Cardiology Unit at Ferrarotto Hospital, University of Catania, where performed with his team the first CoreValve implant in Italy in June 2007 and the first Mitraclip in October 2008. In 2012 joined the University of Rome Tor Vergata as Assistant Professor, where in 2015 became Associate Professor, Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and faculty at the International Medical School..In June 2015 he performed the first successful percutaneous trans-catheter mitral valve replacement with a dedicated self-expandable valve. Since December 2018 is Associate Professor and Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome. He is expert in interventional coronary, valvular, structural and adult congenital interventions.
