Frederik de Lange is a cardiologist with special interests in general cardiology and diagnosing / treating patients with syncope. After his MD PhD on the cardiac conducting system he did his specialization in the Amsterdam UMC. He is now head of the outpatient clinic of the Amsterdam UMC Heart Centre and the managing cardiologist of the Syncope Unit in the AMC. This is a tertiary outpatient clinic facility which is part of the cardiology department. He was involved as a Taskforce member writing the 2018 ESC Guidelines on Syncope and is now chairperson of the upcoming ESC Guideline on syncope. His main research project is the Fainting Assessment STudy (F.A.ST) a research line that comprises the clinical benefit of the initial syncope evaluation in all levels of health care and is supported public/govermental funding (ZonMw/NWO) and grants from health care companies.
