D. Chen is a basic science researcher with expertise in cardiovascular science, molecular signaling, translational genomics, and precision medicine. Suet Nee's long-term research interest is to elucidate the molecular genetics and pathogenesis of Hereditary Cardiomyopathies. Specifically, She aims to identify causative variants through genetic screening of patients and complement these findings by generating in vitro (primary and human induced pluripotent stem cells-derived cardiac cells; engineered heart tissue) and in vivo (animal) models based on the identified mutations. These models serve as platform for functional assays to investigate disease mechanism. Ultimately, Dr. Chen's research is driven by the vision of developing targeted therapeutic drugs that can be translated into clinical application.
