Mr Sikander Tajik Nielsen

Sikander Tajik Nielsen, MB BSc is a medical student at the University of Copenhagen, where he is pursuing his MD. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, from Newberry College, USA. Currently, Sikander serves as a physician substitute in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Zealand University Hospital, and as a pre-graduate research fellow at The Heart Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. He also contributes as a surgical simulation assistant at the Copenhagen Academy of Medical Education and Simulation. His main research interests involves surgical treatment of valvular heart disease, especially infective endocarditis. Sikander has authored peer-reviewed publications and has been awarded the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Surgery award and a major research grant from Rigshospitalet’s research fund. Outside of medicine, he is a former collegiate basketball player and speaks multiple languages.
