Larissa Araújo de Lucena, M.D., is a Brazilian physician and researcher from Jardim do Seridó, where she proudly became the first medical doctor in her family. She works as a family physician while pursuing a postgraduate specialization in Family and Community Medicine at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Her passion for cardiology, ignited during medical school at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, led her to a clerkship at the University of Iowa’s Cardiology Consult Service and to presentations at major conferences, including the World Congress of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology. In December, she will undertake an observership at the Cleveland Clinic’s Cardiology Department. Dr. de Lucena is also a reviewer for Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, Kidney International Reports, and BMC Nephrology. She speaks Portuguese (native), English (fluent), and Italian (beginner), and enjoys traveling, playing with her dog, volleyball, curling, and reading.
