Sabrina Pagano, PhD, is Head of the Research Laboratory in the Division of Laboratory Medicine at Geneva University Hospital, Switzerland. She earned her PhD in Endocrinology and Molecular Medicine from the University of “La Sapienza” in Rome in 2002, where she also completed her studies in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Biotechnology. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Menarini Biotech in Italy, she joined Professor Nicolas Vuilleumier’s group in Geneva in 2008. Dr. Pagano’s research focuses on the role of humoral autoimmunity in cardiovascular disease, with particular emphasis on anti-apolipoprotein A-1 autoantibodies as biomarkers and mediators of atherogenesis. Her recent work investigates how these autoantibodies influence lipid metabolism, with possible implications in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
