Professor Roy Gardner MBChB MD MRCP FESC FHFA FACC FBSH is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service, Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Glasgow, UK and Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow. He has a specialist interest in advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and complex devices. Professor Gardner has numerous appointments, serving as an author/editor of the Oxford Specialist Handbook of Heart Failure and Oxford Textbook of Heart Failure as well as serving on the editorial advisory board for Biomarkers in Medicine. He has an active clinical research programme in heart failure, complex devices, and biomarkers. Professor Gardner is the immediate Past Chair of the British Society for Heart Failure (BSH). He has served on several ESC committees (including as Taskforce coordinator of the 2021 & 2023 HF guidelines), and is a scientific advisor/clinical expert for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
