My journey into this field began after the loss of my dearest family member, my father, which led me to investigate the complexities of aortic stenosis. I am originally a sociologist (DPhil in Sociology, Oxford University, UK), having dedicated nearly 30 years to teaching and researching labor rights, with over 20 years as a professor (Department of Labor Relations, National Chung-Cheng University, Chiayi, Taiwan). My father's experience shifted my focus from labor human rights to medical human rights. Through this pursuit, I discovered significant gaps in knowledge among healthcare professionals concerning this condition. This experience motivated me to delve deeper into the subject and to raise awareness about the necessity for more inclusive medical perspectives. Although I am not a cardiologist, my commitment to advancing patient safety and promoting a more equitable healthcare system has driven me to actively engage in research and advocacy related to aortic stenosis.
