Germano Emílio Conceição Souza, MD, PhD, FESC, is a cardiologist and intensivist with a strong record in medical education, cardiovascular research and editorial leadership. MD (UFBA, 1997); residencies in Internal Medicine (2001) and Cardiology (2003) at FMUSP/InCor; PhD in Cardiology (FMUSP, 2010). Since 2003, he was Assistant Physician in the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Unit at InCor-HCFMUSP, Brazil’s largest center in the subspecialty—experience that drives his research on heart failure, transplantation, and critical care, he also was Preceptor and guest Professor of Medicine at FMUSP. He has authored/co-authored dozens of indexed papers and reviews for Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia, ABC Heart Failure, and Frontiers. Editor-in-Chief of ABC Heart Failure & Cardiomyopathy since 2025; Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and Gold Member of the Heart Failure Association since 2025. Fluent PT/EN; intermediate ES; basic FR. Also a rock-band vocalist and guitarist.
