Dr. Epstein received her BA in integrative biology from UC Berkeley. She then completed her MD, followed by internal medicine residency at UC San Diego. She completed both a fellowship in cardiology at Scripps Clinic and a fellowship in integrative medicine at the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. She is now faculty in integrative cardiology at Scripps. Her research focuses on deep-learning enabled coronary CT for ASCVD risk assessment based on plaque characteristics, multimodal risk prediction, and evidence-based supplement use for lipid lowering and cardiometabolic risk reduction. She is the author of a heart-healthy cookbook titled A Beautiful Heart Cookbook and hosts a podcast titled Sage Advice: Wisdom That Could Save Your Life. She is also a certified yoga and fitness instructor, teaching classes both in the community and in the cardiac rehab program at Scripps. Her hobbies include interior design, horseback riding, walking in nature, and home espresso.
