Dr. Nurys Bárbara Armas is renowned physician and epidemiologist whose career has been defined by an unwavering commitment to cardiovascular health, medical education, and public health research. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she has spent nearly three decades shaping the field of preventive cardiology in Cuba and mentoring future generations of medical professionals.
Since 1998, Dr. Nurys has served as Professor and Head of the Epidemiology Department at the National Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Havana, Cuba. Her leadership in this role has been instrumental in advancing the Institute’s mission to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease through evidence-based prevention strategies, rigorous research, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
