Professor Michail Papadakis

Dr Papadakis is a Reader (Assoc Prof) in Cardiology and a Consultant Cardiologist at St George’s, University of London. His research interests are sports cardiology, inherited cardiac conditions, prevention of sudden cardiac death, and cardiac imaging. Dr Papadakis obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Imperial College School of Medicine, London in 2001. He was awarded a Medical Doctora from King’s College, London in 2014. He was awarded a Fellowship with the ESC in 2016. He is the chair of the section of Sports Cardiology and Exercise of the EAPC. He is credited with over 80 publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals. He has contributed to a number of projects including the creation of the Sports Cardiology core curriculum, the international ECG criteria and exercise recommendations in athletes with heart disease. In 2016 he launched a novel MSc programme in Sports Cardiology, the first postgraduate qualification of its kind.
