Mr Joseph O'SHEA

After completing his B.Sc. Pharmacy Degree in Trinity College Dublin (TCD) (2018) and M.Pharm Degree in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2019), Joseph began his PhD in TCD in Oct 2019. Joseph is a final year PhD candidate in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and recipient of an Irish Research Council Employment-Based Postgraduate Programme Scholarship. His project is being carried out under the mentorship of Prof. Cristín Ryan and Prof. Mark Ledwidge. Joseph's research focuses on optimising medicines in general practice, while working as a practice pharmacist. Joseph established a virtual pharmacist service in a general practice and while providing this virtual service, he is researching how best to integrate pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing into this setting. To investigate the impact of PGx on patients in primary care in Ireland, Joseph conducted a retrospective analysis of the genotyped STOP-HF (St. Vincent's Screening to Prevent Heart Failure) population.
