Doctor Constantijn Sebastiaan Venema

University Medical Centre Groningen, Groningen (Netherlands (The))

After obtaining his medical degree in May 2022, Stijn Venema started working as a PhD candidate in interventional cardiology in the University Medical Center Groningen. He is part of the ischemia research group and works under supervision of Dr Joanna Wykrzykowska, Prof Adriaan Voors and Dr Erik Lipsic. His research focuses on improving diagnosis and treatment of patients with aortic stenosis, particularly moderate aortic stenosis and optimal timing of intervention. The aim of this project is to identify patients with rapid progression that require closer monitoring and identifying which patients would benefit most from (earlier) transcatheter aortic valve implantation.
