I am a cardiologist qualifying in medicine from Liverpool University in 1980 and practicing as a consultant in secondary care for 25 years before setting up an outpatient community cardiology service in 2016. The service has subsequently expanded and we see a wide range of cardiology patients but have a particular focus in the diagnosis and treatment of patients referred from primary care with potential heart failure. This is an area of interest and expertise that I have pursued throughout my career and was central to my MD awarded in 1991. Outside of medicine I am a keen amateur photographer and have enjoyed active participation in sports all my life although in a rather more limited way as I have become older.
