Full professor at the University Hospital Würzburg since 2011, founding member of the Comprehensive Heart Failure Center (CHFC), and Head of the Dept. Clinical Research & Epidemiology.
He leads the CHFC Outpatient Services and the Clinical Research Unit, with a particular emphasis on the integration of patient care, clinical research, and translational cardiovascular medicine.
His academic work focuses on clinical and epidemiological cardiovascular research, including randomized clinical trials, cohort studies, surveys, implementation research, and public awareness.
Further areas of expertise include remote patient care and digitalization, non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, and rare cardiac diseases.
Since 2009, he is member of the German Writing Group National HF Guidelines.
For the mandate 2024-2026 he serves as Member of the Heart Failure Association Board and is Chair of the Committee of heartfailurematters.org, the ESC-HFA platform for patients and caregivers.
