Dr. D'Alessandro is a molecular and cellular biologist specialized in the mechanisms linking atrial structural remodeling and hypercoagulability in translational models of atrial fibrillation (AF). She earned her PhD in 2022 at Maastricht University (the Netherlands), where she collaborated with AF experts from the RACEV consortium. Her research focused on the role of coagulation factors and protease-activated receptors in promoting AF and contributing to atrial structural remodeling.
Since 2021, Dr. D'Alessandro has been a postdoctoral researcher, working alongside Prof. Schotten and Dr. Eringa to explore the crosstalk between atrial myocardium and epicardial adipose tissue in AF-related atrial cardiomyopathy.
On a personal note, Dr. D'Alessandro is a friendly, passionate, and curious scientist. True to her Italian roots, she tends to be talkative, enjoys engaging in lively conversations, and loves making new friends.
