Dr. Cemil Izgi is a consultant cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, specializing in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR). He graduated from Hacettepe University Medical School in 2000 and completed his cardiology training at Koşuyolu Heart Hospital, Istanbul, in 2005. He moved to the UK in 2010 for advanced CMR training at the Royal Brompton Hospital where he now serves as a cardiology consultant with a busy practice in all clinical applications of CMR.
Dr. Izgi holds Level 3 certification in CMR and is among the inaugural Fellows of the SCMR. He previously served as an elected nucleus member of the ESC Working Group on Valvular Heart Disease. He has contributed to training of numerous cardiology and radiology fellows from around the world in CMR over the past 15 years, and has published extensively in leading cardiology journals. He was awarded a Highly Commended accolade in the Cardiovascular Team of the Year category at the 2019 BMJ Awards.
